Trip Report: Rosewood Mayakoba – July 2010
Updated: Jun 26, 2021
This was our second visit and it was every bit as good as the first.
Rooms:
Oceanview Suite
This suite is one of two suite types at the Rosewood Mayakoba that offer ocean views. The other is the Deluxe Oceanview Beach Suite which is larger and closer to the beachfront pool and restaurant area. There are also two suite types that are ocean front. These include the Beachfront Suites and the Two-Bedroom Presidential Oceanfront Suite. The remaining suites offer lagoon views.
Location:
The Rosewood Mayakoba is located approximately thirty five miles south of the Cancun airport and four miles north of the city of Playa del Carmen. It is part of the Mayakoba planned development of resorts that includes the Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Fairmont Mayakoba. The Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya is also nearby.
Pros: Easy to get to with direct flights from many airports in the United States. The drive to the resort is on a well maintained highway.
Cons: Can’t think of any…
Restaurant/Lobby:
There are three restaurants on site: Casa del Lago, Punta Bonita, and Agave Azul. The food at all of the restaurants is wonderful. There were plenty of vegetarian options and the servers were happy to accommodate special requests.
Gym/Spa:
I had a wonderful Swedish massage.
Check In/Out:
Since we were repeat guests they asked us upon arrival if we would like to take the boat or a golf cart to our suite. Of course, I requested the boat. How many times in life do you get to arrive at your suite via a lovely boat ride? Sign me up!
Overall:
This resort is practically perfect for a relaxing getaway. Love the service, the food, the architecture – it’s all fabulous! Be sure to read my other review from our first trip in 2009.
Details: Trip Length: Seven nights Room Type: Oceanview Suite
