Trip Report: The Goring

Updated: Jul 2, 2021

For fans of the British Royal Family, there is no better hotel in London to get in touch with your inner princess than at The Goring. Located steps from Buckingham Palace, the same family has been in charge of the hotel since its founding in 1910 by Richard Otto Goring. This continuity of care and guest service for over a century is exemplary. In fact, in 2013 the hotel was granted a Royal Warrant for Hospitality Services by Her Majesty The Queen.

My stay started with a warm welcome from the bellman and an offer to be seated for a refreshment in the lounge while the check in process was being completed. I ordered a coffee and it was brought to my table along with a couple of biscuits, all served on beautiful china. Don’t miss the picture in the photo tour below. My words do not do it justice! It was the best cup of coffee that I had during my entire stay in England – strong and hot, but not bitter.

My room truly did make me feel like a princess. Coral silk walls, abundantly layered drapes, a delicately hand-painted dressing table, and a beautiful view of the garden. Of course, there was also the signature sheep on my bed. It now resides on my nightstand at home to remind me of sweet dreams at The Goring.

When you go, their award winning afternoon tea is a must. However, it is extremely popular so book early!

A very heartfelt thank you to our host David who shared his delightful stories with us over an exquisite dinner in The Dining Room. Thanks also to Big John, undoubtedly one of the world’s best concierges, for planning a great afternoon of sightseeing for our group. Of course, many thanks to Rebecca Slater of Rebecca Recommends for the opportunity to feel like a royal for a night.

I would love to help you select the perfect room and reserve your table for afternoon tea at The Goring.

You can’t VIP yourself, so get in touch!

Note: I received a reduced rate for travel advisors.
